For today's Digital Skill, we will explore the benefits of using a virtual prototyping space (TinkerCAD Circuits) for complex circuits like the one found inside the child's telephone toy in this intro. Following this overview of why this toy telephone is being deconstructed, head over to this LINK HERE so my colleague John can take you through how to get started with TinkerCAD Circuits.

Time Capsule

Today is the perfect day to get outside and capture a moment in time! Join eight-year-old Hunter, from Nova Scotia, as he shares how you can make your very own time capsule. All you need is a waterproof container (Glass jars don’t work well outside. If you’re hiding it in your home, any container will do!) things that you love and will remind you of these moments in time. For example: write a letter, store receipts, photographs, articles, or anything else you think will help future generations understand what life was like for a kid in 2020. After you finish your time capsule project why not create a Scratch game to mark your steps and create a map to find your capsule in the future!

In this video join Sarah and learn how to make beads from recycled paper to make a unique accessory that represents your vision of PEACE.
Paper bead instructions:
Paper Bead Tutorial Steps
Cut your paper into strips about 2.5 cm wide and a length longer than 8 cm.
Cut each strip in half on the diagonal. Draw a line with a pencil and ruler to guide. To make one mixed bead bracelet, use 8 diagonally cut "triangle" shaped pieces of paper.
Organize a work space with the 8 diagonal paper strips, several toothpicks, a glue stick and some clear nail polish.
Take a toothpick and one paper strip. Roll the WIDE end of the paper strip completely around the toothpick ONE rotation.
Take the glue stick and quickly cover the remaining paper surface with glue.
Tightly roll the paper strip around the toothpick.
Smooth the tip/end of the paper strip in place, use a bit of glue stick on end to seal.
Use a paint brush to apply a coat of your ½ white glue & ½ water mixture to seal your bead. Allow to dry for about 30 minutes.
Slip the paper bead off of the toothpick.
Organize your beads into an order of your choice. If you have other beads at home then you can add them to mix it up!
Cut the beading cord in a 9-10" piece.
String the beads, knot and trim the excess cord.
Tie around your wrist OR create a loop on one end and use a larger bead on the other to connect.

Computers have the ability to process information much faster than humans. What if they could be taught to learn like we can? Today’s video is all about creating models that can help our code to learn about different hand signals that represent peace.

We will be using the mBlock website to create our code: https://www.mblock.cc

We will be teaching our code using a technique called “supervised learning”, but there are other types of machine learning. To learn more about this interesting subject you can watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1wlC...
