Rythmes Probables
Educ-Art
In this video learn how to create a “math-sterpiece” of twirled-paper art with algebra! Simply assign the colour and length of your paper as variables in your equation.

Join Kate and Sophie as they build a free-standing structure using natural elements. What will their structure symbolize? Who will see their creation? Will it hold up to wind and other weather elements? Can you build your own structure using other elements?
Brilliance in the Making: Author Katey Howes
If you are a maker educator, we know you are going to appreciate this conversation. In this episode, Jacob chats with children’s book author, Katey Howes. Katey joined us last week for a read aloud of her book “Be A Maker.” While publisher restrictions will not permit us to keep that read aloud active past June 30th, 2020, we wanted to capture her dedication to maker empowerment in another way. Over the next 36 minutes, Katey and Jacob discuss the role of empathy, collaboration and community in making. Ok - they actually talk about much more including a brief dialogue where they ponder the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in humanity’s drive to collaborate.
Here at Brilliant Labs, we are thrilled to find guests who are as passionate about making and intrigued about the pedagogical implications born from that maker journey. We hope you have a listen and share in this conversation via twitter or any of our other social media feeds.
We encourage you to take the time to pick up Katey’s book “Be A Maker,” and leave her a review letting her know what you think of her book. During the podcast, Katey also discusses a couple of her sources of inspiration that you may want to check out - those are linked below.

Toy Take Apart + TinkerCAD Circuits
For today's Digital Skill, we will explore the benefits of using a virtual prototyping space (TinkerCAD Circuits) for complex circuits like the one found inside the child's telephone toy in this intro. Following this overview of why this toy telephone is being deconstructed, head over to this LINK HERE so my colleague John can take you through how to get started with TinkerCAD Circuits.

Machine Learning with mBlock
Computers have the ability to process information much faster than humans. What if they could be taught to learn like we can? Today’s video is all about creating models that can help our code to learn about different hand signals that represent peace.
We will be using the mBlock website to create our code: https://www.mblock.cc
We will be teaching our code using a technique called “supervised learning”, but there are other types of machine learning. To learn more about this interesting subject you can watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1wlC...
Flowchart Overview and Question Generation Part 3/5 In this activity, we will be learning to use draw.io to create a purpose-built flowchart for decision-making. This can then be used to help assess the sustainability of zoos or nature preserves. A flowchart can aid in the decision-making and assessment process. This will start with design, revision, prototype, test and revision of the flowchart.
www.diagrams.net

Eco Footprint Scratch Game Part 3
In this video we learn how to code if statements and make decision trees. In part 2 we a question, now we will code what the answer means. By the end of this video you will have completed creating the first ‘room’ in your Eco Footprint game. This is part 3 of a 5 part video series.

Make a Paralax Skyline in Scratch
Today we will create a skyline animation using the parallax effect. It is this effect that gives many of your favourite video games and animations their feeling of movement. Our character will look like they are moving through the animation, but we will really be moving background layers at different speeds to create a realistic movement effect.
Time Capsule
Today is the perfect day to get outside and capture a moment in time! Join eight-year-old Hunter, from Nova Scotia, as he shares how you can make your very own time capsule. All you need is a waterproof container (Glass jars don’t work well outside. If you’re hiding it in your home, any container will do!) things that you love and will remind you of these moments in time. For example: write a letter, store receipts, photographs, articles, or anything else you think will help future generations understand what life was like for a kid in 2020. After you finish your time capsule project why not create a Scratch game to mark your steps and create a map to find your capsule in the future!
