Brilliant Labs STEAM Camps!
#BLSTEAMCamps Brilliant Labs STEAM Camps Every summer since 2017, thousands and thousands of children from all walks of life have fun creating and innovating, building things, and problem-solving, with crafts and today’s technology at Brilliant Labs’ free STEAM camps across Atlantic Canada. Using design and art-making, computers, digital storytelling, kid-friendly coding, electronics, robotics, rocketry, virtual reality and 3D printing, children learn how to code and develop their digital skills right in their community! Many thanks to community and program partners, libraries, municipalities, youth-serving organizations and recreation centres for partnering with us to support children’s social, emotional and educational development.
Unfortunately, we were not even able to fit all of our STEAM Camp partners and locations in the description!

Circle Packing
Welcome to an exploration of algorithmic art. In this Digital Skill, students will use Scratch to create an abstract piece of art that is created by code. We call this algorithmic art since your art piece will be created by an algorithm - or a set of rules. For instance can you create a Circle Packing algorithm in Scratch such that a series of circles randomly appear but never touch or overlap?
Students will want to check out our Circle Packing sample here - feel free to remix it and make it your own.

Make a Paralax Skyline in Scratch
Today we will create a skyline animation using the parallax effect. It is this effect that gives many of your favourite video games and animations their feeling of movement. Our character will look like they are moving through the animation, but we will really be moving background layers at different speeds to create a realistic movement effect.

Diagrams.net Flowchart Creation Part 5/5 In this activity, we will be completing our activity using diagrams.net (formerly draw.io) to create a purpose-built flowchart for decision-making. This can then be used to help assess the sustainability of zoos or nature preserves. A flowchart can aid in the decision-making and assessment process. This will start with design, revision, prototype, test and revision of the flowchart.

Eco Footprint Scratch Game Part 3
In this video we learn how to code if statements and make decision trees. In part 2 we a question, now we will code what the answer means. By the end of this video you will have completed creating the first ‘room’ in your Eco Footprint game. This is part 3 of a 5 part video series.
